The Taj Mahal Palace
Luxury Heritage hotel
This award-winning hotel offers 560 luxury appointed suites and rooms. The corridors stand testimony to a century old heritage, with genuine artefacts and antiques gracing the aisles. Guests have a choice of rooms that overlook the city or pool or face the Gateway of India and the Arabian Sea. The 46 generously appointed suites, each adorned with original paintings and period furniture transport guests into a world of regal luxury and grandeur. World renowned American architect Melton Bekker, conceived the Tower wing in 1973 to house the Taj Mahal Tower Rooms which offer a refreshing mix of European style and Indian elegance. With its arched balconies topped by a jagged diadem, the Tower Wing stands in harmonious contrast to the Palace Wing.

His partners were surprised and his sisters, critical. One of them is said to have replied in Gujarati, “You are building an institute of science in Bangalore, a great iron and steel factory and a hydro-electric project – and now you tell us you are going to put up a bhatarkhana (boarding house)!”
