The Burj Kalifa Fountain, Dubai






The Burj Kalifa Fountain in Burj Dubai, UAE is among the largest and most technologically advanced fountains in the world. The $218 million fountain was unveiled in May of 2009. While it’s similar to the famed Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas, it’s 25% bigger and boasts water sprays as high as a 50-story building. But even more impressive than the facts and figures is the sheer beauty of the lighted water show. It’s nothing short of breathtaking.

Dubai Fountain is the center piece of the Downtown Burj Khalifa, located at the front of Burj Khalifa. Emaar, the developer of Burj Khalifa, and Downtown Burj Khalifa had announced the Dubai fountains in June 2008, at the expected cost of AED 800 million or USD 218 million, which is the total cost of the Fountain’s lake, the fountain, and its filtration system.

The Dubai fountain is the worlds largest and one of the world’s tallest fountains, surpassing the Fountains of Bellagio at Las Vegas by a 25%. The Dubai fountains is 275 m (902.2 ft), which is more than the length of two football fields, and has five circles of varying sizes and two central arcs.

The Dubai Fountains can be seen from over 32.2 km (20.0 mi) away up or horizontally if you have a clear line of sight. The fountains can shoot to the maximum height of 150 m (492.1 ft), which is equivalent to a 40-storey building or high enough to wash the windows a fifth of the way up the Burj Khalifa.

The Dubai Fountain attracts thousands of visitors to the Waterfront Promenade of The Dubai Mall each evening. Dubai fountains is expected to attract more than 10 million visitors per year.
